NEON PLAY ‘APPY’ WITH SUCCESS
Since being launched in June 2010, Neon Play has created some of the world’s most successful apps for the iPhone and iPad – Flick Football was the second most downloaded paid-for iPad app, even beating Angry Birds HD!
Neon Play have created 15 apps which in total have been downloaded 3,753,564 times, that’s 20,853 times per day, or 14 downloads every minute.
What makes this success even sweeter is that Neon Play was established only seven months ago. The company now employs seven people and is currently advertising for more developers, a marketing executive and they’re looking to hire a project manager and app designers going forward. Managing Director Oli Christie started the company after working as a digital creative director for some of the world’s biggest brands, creating over 200 games and receiving 25 industry awards.
Neon Play have also recently launched four new free apps – Golf Putt Pro, Paper Glider, Fat Santa and Hotshot Pool. Also Talking Baby is a paid app where you talk into the microphone and the anarchic baby repeats what you say.
Oli Christie, said: “Our performance during our first six month’s trading have completely exceeded our wildest expectations and 3.75 million app downloads since June 2010 is a cracking start. There are some exciting projects in the pipeline for 2011 and we look to grow the company in 2011.”
Neon Play have also worked with a range of celebrities, creating exclusive content, soundboards, images and games for Armstrong & Miller, Dom Joly, John McCririck and Al Murray, The Pub Landlord. The BBC has also paid the studio a visit, interested in their work with students from Cirencester College. Neon Play is a member of Gloucestershire Design Network, which is part of the South West Design Forum.
